The Newborn Metabolic Screening Programme (NMSP) Technical Working Group supports Health NZ to provide high quality and accessible screening.
About the Newborn Metabolic Screening Programme Technical Working Group
The group provides advice to Health NZ on:
- NMSP monitoring and evaluation reports
- technical and clinical aspects of the NMSP
- new technologies and tests
- proposed research
- changes to the screening panel
- other areas of the NMSP as agreed by the group and the NSU.
The group shares responsibility with the National Screening Unit for providing liaison back to their respective formal bodies and constituencies.
Our members
The group includes members with wide knowledge and experience of the NMSP. They also include representation from:
- newborn metabolic screening technical experts
- midwives
- paediatricians
- NMSP Director
- metabolic physicians
- geneticists
- public health physicians
- laboratory managers or clinical directors
- other members co-opted as required.
The group meets as required by the NMSP workplan. Meetings are also attended by members of Health NZ.
