Maritime border health

Ships arriving from overseas need to meet health entry requirements. These aim to stop the international spread of disease or public health risks.

Maritime health requirements

Before arriving in New Zealand waters, ships’ masters must submit an Advanced Notice of Arrival, No Change of Health Status and Maritime Declaration of Health documentation.

Cruise ship operators

Cruise ship operators must complete the same pre-arrival documentation as other commercial vessels. There are additional reporting requirements if there is an outbreak of a communicable disease.

Health guidance for maritime passengers and crew

This health guidance applies to all passengers and crew on maritime vessels entering New Zealand. It is in addition to the maritime border health requirements.
