The report’s purpose is to share key achievements, challenges, service changes and improvement priorities across maternity care in the Hutt Valley. It was produced by Health New Zealand’s Women’s and Children’s Health Service, with input from clinical staff, consumer representatives, community partners and the Maternity Quality and Safety Programme governance group.
Throughout 2023 the programme focused on improving equity, strengthening workforce capacity, supporting primary birthing options, enhancing cultural safety, and ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based maternity care across the district.
